Ch 2 Investigation: Chip Rogers Represented Handicapping Operation

What happens in Vegas, doesn’t always stay there. Channel 2 Action News has confirmed Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers was the face of a sports handicapping operation in the late 1990’s, routinely flying to Las Vegas to record television shows which show him announcing his picks for games, a practice gamblers commonly use to determine teams on which to bet.

“It’s no different than what you see right now, today, on all sorts of NFL pregame shows, where people sit around and talk about who’s going to win the game and by how much are they going to win,” Rogers told investigative reporter Jodie Fleischer. But videos show Rogers, whose moniker was ‘Will the Winner’, announcing his picks as a 900-number flashed on the screen, urging viewers to call and buy additional picks.
